Instructions

The hygienic mask does not exempt the user from the application of barrier gestures complemented by the social distancing measures that are essential in accordance with the recommendations indicated by the Ministry of Health.

Collective protection measures take precedence over individual protection measures.

Mask placement

It is recommended to place the mask on bare skin (i.e. without the presence of hair in contact with the user's skin and, for some people, shaved skin) and to observe the following steps:
1. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a hydroalcoholic solution before handling the mask.
2. Identify the upper part of the mask.
3. Position the mask on the face, at the height of the nose. If a nose clip is available, adjust it to the nose.
4. Hold the mask from the outside and fasten the headgear behind the head or on either side of the ears, without crossing them.
5. Lower the bottom of the mask to the chin.
6. Verify that the mask covers the chin.
7. Pinch the nose clip with both hands to fit the nose (if present).
8. Verify that the mask is positioned correctly. For this it is necessary to verify the seal and the absence of respiratory discomfort.
9. Once adjusted, do not touch the mask with your hands. If the user needs to touch the mask, they must first wash their hands with soap and water or rub them with a hydroalcoholic solution.

removal of the mask

To avoid contamination when removing a mask, the following steps should be followed:

1. Remove protective gloves.
2. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a hydroalcoholic solution.
3. Remove the mask without touching the front of the mask.
4. If the mask is to be reused, see the section on Duration of maximum continuous use and on Washing and drying the mask . If it is to be discarded permanently, see the section on Disposal of the mask .
5. Wash your hands with soap and water or rub them with a hydroalcoholic solution.

Washing and drying of the mask

A complete washing cycle must be carried out (moisten, wash, rinse), with the usual detergent, at a washing temperature of 60 °C.
Contact between a dirty mask (to be washed) and clean clothing should be avoided. The person in charge of washing must protect themselves to handle dirty masks.
Products that may degrade or damage materials and reduce their protective capacity should not be used.
It is recommended that the mask be completely dry within 2 h after washing. It should not be dried or sanitized with a microwave oven.
Both during drying and subsequent storage of the mask, environments in which the mask could be recontaminated should be avoided.
After each washing cycle, a visual inspection must be carried out (with protective gloves or washed hands). If any damage is detected in the mask (less fit, deformation, wear, etc.), the mask must be discarded.

Duration of maximum continuous use

For reasons of comfort and hygiene, it is recommended not to wear the mask for more than 4 hours. If it gets damp or deteriorates from use, it is recommended to replace it with another.
During the period of use, the mask can only be removed in accordance with the instructions above.
The mask must be washed whenever it becomes dirty, wet or cannot be placed correctly on the face.
The mask should not be used if it is dirty or wet.
In the event that it is going to be stored temporarily, contact with any surface must be avoided.
It should also not be placed in a holding position on the forehead or under the chin during and after use.

Removal of the mask

To reduce the risks of using these masks, it should be noted that once the maximum number of washes has been exceeded, they must be discarded.

Masks should be disposed of in a container fitted with a plastic bag (preferably with a lid and non-manual control, see Figure 3). It is recommended to use a double bag to preserve the contents of the first bag in case the outer bag tears.
Used masks can also be disposed of in biowaste containers.
