Today, “Enfermera en apuros” is much more than an online shop. We have created a strong community of +800K healthcare professionals from all over the world fighting for their rights and visibility, which we give voice to through our social media platforms.
As a reference point for healthcare professionals, we try to make the healthcare community feel connected to each other and represented outside of only healthcare spaces. So that when they wear a product from “Enfermera en apuros” they feel full of pride.
A way of living
Nurses and healthcare professionals are essential because we play a crucial role in society and in people’s lives: WE SAVE LIVES AND HEAL SOULS.
In our daily work, we deal with life and death, constantly sacrificing for others. Even sometimes putting our own health at risk. There is, however, one thing all healthcare professionals share, regardless of their field: VOCATION.
Vocation is the motivation that connects pride, effort, and passion in our work. It’s an energy, and like energy, it can neither be created nor destroyed. It’s the driving force that allows us to keep going, to continue learning, and to help those who need our support the most. It gives us strength, it’s our banner, and it fuels our desire to shout: WE ARE NURSES.
Enfermera en apuros was born from the need to spotlight the work of all healthcare buddies and their importance in society, to advocate for their rights, and to make their realities visible through our illustrations and humor. We believe it’s necessary to make healthcare professionals’ lives much more fun and lighthearted. We work hard to design and create useful, beautiful products that our audience can relate to.
One day in April 2014, Ana Polegre (nurse by vocation and illustrator for the love of art) and Urko Martínez (computer engineer and restless by nature) came up with the idea of taking nursing to a different level.
Both, as a couple and partners, and surrounded by a great team of more than 15 talented people, created innovative and cool products and solutions for this great health collective. But above all, we create a strong community of nurses who fight for their rights and visibility over these 10 years, Enfermera en apuros has become much more than an online store.
Retailers across all over Spain, two published books (Enfermera en apuros. La que elige el tamaño de la aguja and Coronavirus. Historias reales en primera línea de batalla), several Apps for healthcare professionals, really cool games and many collaborations with great professionals in the sector.
